This project analyzes the current situation and recent evolution of the Spanish healthcare network, in both the public and private sectors, assessing the distribution of healthcare resources (waiting lists, facilities, beds, professionals) and comparing their capacity and efficiency in the provision of hospital and outpatient services.
It also examines the impact of population aging and demographic changes on future healthcare demand, identifying highly prevalent chronic conditions associated with aging and evaluating their effects on system quality, waiting times, and the availability of medical specialists.
Based on these trends, the project develop healthcare demand projections for the coming years and produce a predictive healthcare map by autonomous communities, highlighting the areas and services facing the greatest care pressure.
Layman's summary: This project analyzes the Spanish healthcare network, both public and private, assessing waiting lists, resources, activity, and efficiency. It examines the impact of population aging on healthcare demand. In addition, it estimates future needs and proposes a predictive map to anticipate care pressure and support healthcare planning.
